An Elizabeth Township home on Hershey Road was hit by a vehicle again Sunday morning, reigniting concerns over traffic safety along the roadway and the ongoing calls for action from local officials and PennDOT.
The latest incident comes after a serious crash at the same home earlier this year that injured an infant inside the residence.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, an infant in the Elizabeth Township home was injured in the May 27th Crash after an SUV crashed into the house, sending part of the vehicle’s engine into the residence.
The SUV’s driver was also injured after the vehicle struck a utility pole, flipped onto a tree and then slammed into the home on the first block of Hershey Road near Brickerville.
Now, the family says their home has been struck yet again, raising renewed questions about what can be done to prevent vehicles from leaving Route 322 and crashing into the residence.
The family is urging residents to contact PennDOT and the Elizabeth Township Board of Supervisors and demand action before someone is seriously injured or killed.
For the family living in the home, this is no longer simply a traffic-safety concern — it is happening at their front door.
With another crash occurring just weeks after an infant was injured in the previous incident, the calls for protective measures along this stretch of Hershey Road are growing louder.
The question residents are now asking is simple: How many more times does this house — or another family — have to be hit before something is done?
